Comment: We are so fortunate to have selected Clarkston Legal to assist in an extremely important and legally challenging custody matter. This was truly a one-shot, all-or-nothing situation, as my son’s future would be forever altered for the better or worse by the outcome of this case. During the initial phone consultation, Tim thoroughly answered all our questions. We were then invited into the office for a sit down, at which time Tim reviewed our previous notes, candidly shared every possible outcome (favorable or otherwise), and presented his proposed strategy for how he would like to proceed. We immediately chose to sign on with the Clarkston Legal team. Tim then introduced Ryan as a second attorney who would be supporting our case and the preparation began. Tim and Ryan helped us through the gathering of all the information and evidence needed prior to court, and shared every draft of the various motions required throughout our case. Despite our never-ending questions, they and the entire Clarkston Legal support staff were extremely responsive and patient. Any time we needed them, somebody was available the same day. When our hearing date neared, they worked to prepare us for court. Tim was masterful during the hearing, establishing a rapport with judge, laying out the evidence, and guiding me through 90 minutes of testimony. When the dust settled, we got every single change we sought; complete victory! This hearing was followed by another hearing to alter child support, which Ryan led with equal competence. Once again, the outcome was 100% in our favor. There advice the first time I talked to Austin (he has since moved) he gave me no nonsense information and hard truths and at that point I was not strong enough to leave a domestic situation, he did warn me itd get worse and I just couldnt escape. A year or so later I came back and this time for good. The entire staff are professional, caring, and respectful: Anita loveee her she was my vent person and just someone who is worth her weight in GOLD. Austin who listened to me cry more tears then he should have had too. Tim for getting this entire case wrapped up, was not an easy feat. Frank came in late but stepped up for sure and helped countless hours as well. I never had to wait for phone calls or emails to be returned it was super quick!!! Motions were filed pretty much immediately, action was taken when it was time sensitive. They were unwavering and there to keep me level and calm to protect my kids when the other side just wanted to hurl lies from unfound cps calls, to the obsesive amount of police calls. While it went on for over a year I came out with what was the best thing for the kids and for that I am forever grateful as they saved us, they will never need to experience the trauma I did. Not only is he experienced, knowledgeable and professional, he has integrity, he listens, and he genuinely cared about me and my situation. You can’t fake that. Tim did an incredible job.Background on the case:Before I met Tim I worked with two other attorneys. Both took full advantage of the fact that my x-wife had no intention of settling anything in this divorce. Her goal was to keep this going until the day I died just to torture me. Think about it… seven years of continuous litigation. Nothing could ever be resolved. We were officially divorced after one year, but spent the next six years in a constant state of litigation. The attorneys, mediators, and arbitrators all saw dollar signs $$$. I felt like I was in the dark, swimming in shark infested waters, while bleeding (money) profusely. This feeding frenzy went on for years and totaled over $100,000. Nothing was fair, nothing made sense, nothing was reasonable, very little was resolved. I learned that this is all too typical with unscrupulous attorneys when there is money to be had, particularly when one party doesn’t want to settle. The future looked miserable. That’s when I met Tim.I hired Tim specifically to end my unfair spousal support obligation, but he quickly saw the predicament I was in with the never ending court proceedings and wanted to help. In the shortest time the court system would allow and given the fact that my x-wife would never agree to anything, Tim not only ended my spousal support payments, but also ended all other claims my x-wife had planned for me in the future. In that moment, the sun came out, the bleeding stopped, the sharks disappeared and my life began again. I can never thank Tim enough, or recommend him enough for what he did for me. Comment: I went to Clarkston Legal after I had filed in pro per to terminate my son and his wifes parental rights so we could adopt our grandchildren. When we started down this path I thought it was cut and dry. We were treated horribly by the system and left scrambling once we realized we were going to need an attorney despite the fact that we met all of the right criteria for our goal. After getting a referral to Mr. Flynn, he stepped into action immediately and made us feel that we and our kids were a major priority.The law should have been on our side. Instead, there was a war with the state who hired cut throat attorneys to protect my son and his wifes rights, even though they had not seen the children in 4 years, never paid a dime of support, and never even showed up in court asking for the kids.Thank God that Tim fought hard for us against a system that is stacked against grandparents who are just trying to do the right thing. Most importantly, he was direct and honest about the process and all possible outcomes. Once we decided to proceed, his rate was fair, and in the end accurate; we did not even up needing to pay more money. He is very quick with his turn-around. He took all of our scattered thoughts and made sense of them. He was very patient with us, as we needed to course correct a few times which required revisions on his end as well. He went what I believe is above and beyond by offering to speak with the father whom we were pursuing custody from to ensure he understood all the documents and what he would be signing. Ultimately, we walked away from the process getting every single thing we had been hoping for in both custody and parental rights. Comment: Had some pre-planning questions for possible upcoming motion(s) I had thoughts about filing post-divorce (one year here since the official agreement went through). I was generally pretty happy with the work of my original attorney, but I am one to want to get the full spectrum and possibilities of things with another professional opinion and 2nd set of eyeballs. No harm, no foul. Previously, I was a total divorce and child custody neophyte. As time has gone on and more things have happened, I have gained more experience on policies and procedures in this arena and asking better questions. Having an attorney who will educate and guide you is essential when you dont know what you dont know.So I set up a free consult with Mr. Flynn after doing a bit of research and trying to find real reviews on attorneys online in more than one place. I have found that there arent very many that provide much beyond marginal insight/broad generalities. His assistant, Anita, was really responsive to my online website inquiry and super nice and helpful when I finally spoke with her directly. Another thing that impressed me about Mr. Flynn was that he actively blogs on many legal issues and seemed really plugged in and up to date on family law and more. I also found his response to a review on a former traffic issue client trolling him online with bad reviews amusing and honest. I really like when someone keeps it real, if you will.Mr. Flynn took his time answering all of my questions on my post-divorce and parenting time / motion / order topics. He gave really good and positive insight to all the players in my particular case (even being on the other side of the table with the divorce attorney Id hired and his experience with specific Friend of the Court personnel). He confirmed and gave me relief on my having made good decisions and having decent possible prospects with some of my core issues. Mr. Flynn also readily gave advice on certain things I should not bother pursuing or spending money on, which was really appreciated.At the end of our meeting I felt like I gained a lot of insight and relief about past and present realities regarding my case. Moreover, it left me to make better life decisions going forward and that it would be best to let certain personal agitas go by the wayside. I found his overall demeanor to be kind, calm, measured, and thoughtful. I also felt *heard*.I know I will still be pursuing filing an important motion in due time and was glad to get Mr. Flynns opinion on how and when to do it. His retainer for my one core thing was realistic and reasonable, in my opinion. I would say that if youre looking for an honest / second / first opinion on a family law, divorce, parenting time or child support matter, give Mr. Flynn a shout and make him a part of your research / consult efforts.Personal experience / advise when dealing with any law matters: Know that your up-front retainer payment will not last forever if things go sideways or you have to pursue different legal avenues. Get a temporary p/t job if you have to to make your arranged payments. Seriously. Having a solid attorney representing you is WELL WORTH the money and keeps your stress levels down when facing all things legal. Also, keep your emotions in check and try to deal with the facts at hand in your case. Get as much in writing as possible when it comes to the interactions with the other party. Bring and provide copies of all relevant paperwork, docs, photos, proof up front / in an ongoing manner. That will only save you money in the long run and make your attorneys job easier. HTH.
